FAQ
Q: Can you use my old gold to create a new piece?
A: Yes and No. I don’t use a casting process to make my jewelry. This means that I don't melt old gold to make my new pieces. All of my work is one-of-a-kind. My technique for making jewelry is the ancient art of fabrication. Using this process, I construct and solder my designs with new milled sheet and wire. This gold is all high quality post consumer recycled. Usually the only thing I can do with your old gold is to credit you with the scrap value of the metal toward a new custom piece or a purchase. The scrap value is based on the ever-changing market price of gold. If you want to save and re-use part of an old piece of jewelry I can oftentimes cut off part(s) and incorporate them into the new custom creation, thereby keeping the old piece alive.
Q: Can you create a design using my gemstones?
A: Yes. I work with all gemstones. If there are any defects in your gemstones (chips, cracks, etc.) I prefer not to work with them, unless you absolutely insist. I also recommend that you only use stones that you "love" or have some sentimental value or significance to you. If you don't love the gemstone to begin with, no amount of magic on my part will make you love the final creation. Although rare, accidents do happen from time to time. Please be assured that your gems are handled lovingly, but they are set at your own risk. I will closely examine them before working with them, but I am not responsible for any damages or loss of any kind.
Q: How much will a custom piece cost?
A: My prices are surprisingly reasonable. The price depends on what I am creating. The number and type of stones, the size and cuts, and the "difficulty level" of working with any particular gemstone and design will determine the final price.
Q: What metals do you use in your jewelry creations?
A: I work with 14kt. & 18kt. gold in yellow, rose, and white, and 22kt. yellow gold. I also work in traditional sterling silver as well as the new highly tarnish resistant sterling silver. Any colored golds and/or silver can be combined into any setting.
Q: Do you have a store?
A: No. I work out of my studio. If you are in the San Francisco Bay area, I may set up an appointment with you in your area. If you are traveling in Marin, Sonoma, or Napa Counties please call me to arrange an appointment.
Q: Do you do wholesale work?
A: Yes. My minimum order is 5 pieces unless otherwise arranged.
Q: I don't see any prices. What are your prices?
A: I provide prices upon request and they can change without notice as the prices of gold and gemstones do fluctuate. Once I quote a price it does not usually change unless there is a large market fluctuation.
